Brian landed last night around midnight and went to the hospital for some tests. It was determined that he would stay and need surgery. I don't know all of the facts but I believe his white count was pretty high and that a cyst had formed that was fairly large. They went in and drained it and may at some point go back in and replace a rod that is still in his bone from his previous surgeries 4 years ago. I spoke with him briefly via skype phone and he said with the pressure being off it felt somewhat better. He is still really foggy and on a pretty good pain control pump. Hoping he'll get to go home Sunday but we'll see. I know he is in capable hands and has loved ones around him....but its not me and that breaks my heart. I'm thankful this morning that we made the decision that we did. Please keep praying for him!! And me, if you don't mind. The stress has taken a toll on me and I'm not feeling well at all.
Amy!! I have no idea if my comments are posting bc I'm going off of my phone. But regardless, I am SO sad for you and this is totally stinky and surely this is not how things were supposed to happen. I can't imagine being alone in a strange land with a child that is not bonded to you yet and your husband is I'll. You have got to be falling apart! I would be!!! Let me feed you some truth you already know... Greater is HE who is IN YOU than he who is in the world. He will never leave you or forsake you. When you ask for his spirit he will not give you a snake. Draw near to him and he will draw near to you. You van do all things in Christ! I love you dear friend and can't wait to see you.
ReplyDeleteOh Amy and Brian, I'm praying for all of yall! I can't imagine the emotions you are going through. I will keep praying!
ReplyDeleteAbba Father
ReplyDeleteI lift Brian and Amy to you in prayer! Thank you for bringing Brian home safely and showing the doctors what's giving him pain and thank you that he's feeling a little better. I pray in the name of Jesus that you'll heal Brian completely and remove all his pain! Give him peace while Amy is away and bring her and Rhett home as soon as possible!
I pray for Amy that you'll give her peace and that you would comfort her! Let her feel your arms of love and strength around her. I know she wants so badly to be the one caring for her husband so I pray she's able to go home as soon as possible. Lord you knew this was going to happen and you are able to give her the strength and peace that she needs to get through this. Lord please remove all the stress that Amy is feeling and give her a peace that passes all understanding! Heal her body and keep her well so she's able to care for Rhett and be strong for Brian! Father bless her and keep her make your face shine upon her and be gracious and give her peace.
We ask this in the name of your Son Jesus!
Amen!

Amy, you hang in there sweetie...Brian is in good hands. As soon as the "foggy" goes away, Brian will be able to talk to you more. God is the Great Physician!
ReplyDeleteNow you put that lovely smile back on and kiss, kiss, kiss that sweet boy.
Lord, I ask that Your loving hands lift the pressure off of Amy so that she can continue the process of bringig their little boy home!
Lord, I also ask that Your loving hands lift the grieving from Rhett so that he can see he has a "wonderful" mommy who loves him so much.
Lord, again I ask that you surround Amy and Rhett with loving, caring and patient medical staff so that the medical process goes smoothly and uneventful on Saturday.
Wow...I am WAY behind. I've enjoyed catching up and seeing the few pictures of Rhett. He is 100% precious, and I am so thrilled he is now blessed to be your child. I will be anxious to hear more about the rest of your time there, and I will be in prayer for Brian as well. What poor timing, but then again, you have to trust HIS timing is perfect, as hard is that is to probably understand right now. Thinking and praying for your whole sweet family. We love yall.
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for you guys Amy!! I just don't think China goes at all like we hope it will. Our trip was so difficult and I wasn't alone. I will pray the Lord will comfort you, be your companion and bring you deep peace. I am praying for a quick recovery for Brian!!
ReplyDeleteAmy - I will be praying specifically for your bonding - with everything else going on, I know it's got to make things so much more difficult, even though you know its normal and not taking it personally, it's H A R D. Glad to hear Brian is getting some relief and confirmation that your decision to have him go home was the right one. So glad Sara is coming SOON! Praying for you guys and little Rhett!
ReplyDeletePraying for all of you today!
ReplyDeleteSweet Amy,
ReplyDeleteMark and I have been in constant prayer for you, Brian, and your five precious children. I cannot imagine what you are all walking through and I know it has been so incredibly hard on you. I know your heart is divided right now, as you become a mother to sweet Rhett and provide for his many needs alone. While still missing and longing to be there for your four others and your husband so far away from you. Oh, I ache for you, friend. We are praying that the Lord strengthen you and whisper His truth to you all day long. May you be overwhelmed with His peace and His physical presence. He is with you and He is so proud of you. You are amazing.
Thank you for telling us what to pray for. We won't stop. :) Love you and your family so much.
Wanted to wish you a very happy and blessed New Year and to let you know we are still praying big time for you my friend! I hope you are enjoying a restful night sleep and a renewed spirit and strength for the morning. Praying Rhett will learn to trust and depend on you more each day and that you will find joy in your circumstances. Love you!
ReplyDeleteThinking and praying for you both.
ReplyDeleteAmy & Brain God will not put on you more than you can handle. God will give you the strength you both need. We love you and praying for you all.
ReplyDeleteAmy- This is Erin (Sheppard) Lonard- Aunt Amy Jill's sis. I have just caught up on your blog and I want you to know that I am praying for you and Brian and Rhett and Sara as she travels to meet you. I am SOOO thankful that Sara will get to share in this journey with you. I was so moved by Brian's post about you. I believe every word he spoke to be true. Please know that you are lifted in prayer even as I type. I know the stress of a "normal" international adoption. To have all these other curve balls thrown at you is gut-wrenching and my heart truly aches. Love, Erin
ReplyDeleteOh Amy, so glad to see an update. I have been so worried about you and Brian. I am so sorry to hear his leg is not doing well, but THANK GOD you all had Him going before and leading Brian to get home. I have heard you speak so much of your extended family on your blog, so I just know he is surrounded by so many including your dear children who are no doubt rising to the occasion to cheer their Daddy on as he faces this next hurdle.
ReplyDeleteAnd for you, sweet Amy, just keep looking up even if it from lying prostrate on the ground kicking and screaming. Oh how I've been there--but not alone in China. I can't imagine that, but you are not alone. God is there with you and within less than a day you'll have your sister there I think.
Father, please shower Amy with your sweet and strong presence right now. Let her know Father that not only are You there with her and Rhett, but that at the same moment You are there with Brian back at home in the hospital. Lord, allow her to feel in a VERY REAL WAY that Your hands do indeed span the entire world and that as You cradle her in Your grip, You are also cradling Brian in Your grip. Lord, I pray this time brings her closer to You in a way that she has never known before. For your glory alone Father.
((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))
We are praying for you all, Amy. I am praying they will get your paperwork through early upon hearing about your circumstances! We LOVE you!
ReplyDeleteJayne
This is Brian's mom Carol. He is much much better today after the fog lifted. He is off the pain pump and free of tubes today. He showered this morning, walked to his new room - or should I say suite (much bigger for all the visitors). I believe he is trying to blog here but there are problems with the wifi connection and his laptop there at Baylor. Thank you all for your steadfast and faithful prayers. Carol
ReplyDeletePraying for you Amy, your dear hubby, and your precious family! Hugs from FL. Debbie
